Sorry. Can't resist posting this article, Smacking hits kids' IQ.
So you swat the kiddies and their IQ drops about 5 points. Really? Just the 5? I'm trying to figure the down side here.
Later the article admits that really, reading to the kiddies is most important. So what is the over and under on smacking while reading to them? Inquiring minds want to know.
Dear children: I smacked you often, but we also had great times together reading quality literature. The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry, and the The Big Hungry Bear.
If I smack the kid every other page?
Gosh Lana....you would be a genius if Dad and I hadn't smacked you. I will never forget one of my bosses at the school ad. office in Plainview telling me he would rather have a B student who was well rounded and liked to have fun than an A student because all they did was study. Remember the class that you had that was seated alphabetically and one of the boys told you that You ruined their row because you only made a 92 and the rest of the "H" row made 98-100....but you had fun. And, most of all you loved to read and you taught your kids to read. So who wants a brilliant kid. I prefer the kid that is smart and likes to have fun. Those Hogan boys would also be Einstins.
