On election night, something important crystallized in my mind. No matter the results, our nation will get by just fine. We survived Clinton; we'll survive Pelosi. The Republicans deserved to get their heads handed to them, our soldiers deserved better leaders, the Democrats won't be, and I have faith that the country will stand behind the troops. The national finger in the wind might have been irritated, but it wasn't crazy.
Another thing that firmly cemented in my mind was this: I've spent far too much time dinking around with inside baseball politics when I should have been baking cookies, watching movies with my kids, playing with my grandbaby, and kissing my husband silly. That's over. I don't get paid to know about that junk and I'm finished following it unless I'm reading for the humor factor. Life is too short and I have better things to do.
Of course, anyone still reading this blog knows I mostly checked out to do other things several months ago. In all honesty, this hasn't been an interesting read in over a year. That changes today. I'm going back to my original focus, my passion if you will, and that is family, humor, culture, love and respect for our men and women in uniform, and pithy observations. If nothing else, I'll entertain myself and that is the point, isn't it?
