There has been a rash of 100 Things About Me postings around the blogosphere, but I haven't done this because every time I start to read one of these posts I get bogged down around 32. So applying the K.I.S.S. theory, I thought I might write 10 Things About Me.
1. When I was in fourth grade, a sixth grade bully hit my little sister and pushed her down. Although he was twice my size I beat the snot out of him with a metal, Hair Bear Bunch lunch box.
2. While attending school, the most frequent comments on my report card were "Lana talks too much" and "Lana does not apply herself". If there wasn't a box to check these off, the teachers were kind enough to pencil them in at the bottom.
3. When I was in high school, my dad took us on a camping trip to Colorado. As I sat in the little girl's room in the trees, an entire troop of Eagle Scouts walked up, formed a circle around the log I was sitting on, and began to chat. Completely oblivious to what I was doing, this went on for about 10 minutes until one of them glanced down and noticed my longjohns around my ankles.
4. My sister was standing behind the Eagle Scouts the entire time laughing hysterically.
5. Mr. G passed out in the middle of our wedding during the romantic music segment.
6. I had my last 3 children at home because I'm a control freak and I hate bossy hospital staff, hospital rules, and cast of hundreds around while I'm naked from the waist down. This could be the Eagle Scouts' fault.
7. 30 minutes before Willard was born I ate an entire large, pepperoni pizza.
8. The 4th of July is a major event at our house every year. We start early, have scores of folks over all day, and shoot off fireworks until midnight on our land. Every year I cry when the soldiers march by in the parade. They make me not only proud of our wonderful country, but humbled by their voluntary sacrifice and willingness to protect us all.
9. I put everything off until the very last possible minute.
10. I love gaudy jewelry, the color red, and great shoes. There are a lot of great shoes I still don't own, but I'm working on it one pair at a time.
